“Rise” – Matthew Tan

After a long day, an exhausted young man comes home and engages in a lot of reckless consumption of energy. This short film paints a picture of the relationship between daily unsustainable practices at the individual level, and their cumulative, deadly, global repercussions that are threatening our existence. The rising water levels in the bathtub parallels the rising sea levels of our planet. Despite the bleak ending to the film, it comes with a positive message of urging us to be aware of the unsustainable habits that we tend to overlook and to take more personal responsibility with every small effort, given how much is at stake.
